Staunton Harold - Sailing events

All members,

You can fish on the dates below but if you wish to avoid the boats please note the info below.

Listed are the sailing events at Staunton Harold Reservoir scheduled for this Autumn:

Sun 7th Oct – Laser Open

Sat 20th Oct – Comet Open

Sat 27th Oct – Fireball/Scorpion Open

Sun 28th Oct – Fireball/Scorpion Open

Also, there are sailing events Saturday and Sunday from March through to November, plus evening sailing Wednesdays and Fridays through the summer.  Club webs-site lists the events: http://shsc.org.uk//events/

We do try to set the sailing course to avoid the fishermen where possible, but because of the way boats race, we have to position the start downwind and the first turning mark upwind, so it is likely that we will need to get close to the bank at some point.  Our rules are to keep 5 boats lengths away from the back, so this is typically 20 metres.

Branston Water Park - Shut to fishing

All members please be aware that due to a request from East Staffs District Council we have had to stop fishing at Branston Water Park with immediate effect.

This is whilst the council undertake their own checks on the actual cause of the issue with recent bird deaths on the water. We do not have any reason to believe that the situation has resulted in any issues with the fish. We will advise further once we have any more information.

Hornets - Kingstanding Pools

All members,

Please be aware that we have an issue at the moment with hornets at Kingstanding pools, especially on the lower pool. You need to be aware if you are visiting as there's a lot of them about!

Horseshoe Meadow - River Dove

Carpark access is currently NOT available from Station Road in Rolleston at the old carpark number 4.

Despite it looking like we have lost access, all members should be aware that this is not the case, at present we have nowhere for carparking however down the access lane. You are free to use the lane for pedestrian access however.

Once we have been able to secure carparking again we will advise of the new arrangements.
