Trent and Mersey Canal

We hold rights to over 8½ miles of towpath extending from Wychnor to Clay Mills. The Canal holds all the usual species including Carp to 18lbs+, Chub to 4lbs+ and even Barbel to 8lbs+. The boat traffic can be heavy at times so for the bigger fish try early morning or late evening

Listed below are the main access points, working from Wychnor Bridge Lock boundary to Clay Mills. They are: Dogshead Bridge, Catholme Bridge, Mill Lane Bridge, Barton Turn, Douglas Bridge, Oakamoor Café (see note below), Branston Waterpark, Tatenhill Lane, Centrum, Shobnall Road, Ravens Way, Dallow Lock, Horninglow Road Bridge, Masefield Crescent, Princess Way Bridge, Beech Lane, James Brindly Way, Hillfield Lane, and the boundary at Clay Mills Bridge.

The Cafe has two vehicle parks, one for trucks and one for cars, on your immediate left, please use this one.
There is a gate which leads you to the tow path.
You are welcome to use the Cafe for food and tea and toilets.

No fishing is allowed on the ‘crossover’ stretch (this is the stretch between Tatenhill Lock, Bridge 35 and Bridge 36) because of Power Lines.

No fishing within 25 metres of APPROACHES to locks or at Permanent Moorings.
